Basalt Algeria to build new CBF plant in Algeria

Basalt Algeria will be the first company in Africa and Middle East to produce continuous basalt fiber (CBF) and reinforced composites products.

Algerian-based Basalt Algeria will build a new plant for manufacturing continuous basalt fiber (CBF) and reinforced composites products in Algeria. Statim Chronometer Inc. (Statim Chrono., Montreal, Quebec, Canada) will help construct the plant that will have an estimated capacity of 3,000 tons/year. Basalt Algeria will be the first company in Africa and Middle East to produce continuous basalt fiber (CBF) and reinforced composites products.

“The company will have its footprint in the world of Basalt and composites materials and will raise awareness for using a green sustainable composites product such as fiber and bar reinforcement made from Basalt,” said Youness Salhi, president of Basalt Algeria.
