AZDEL Inc. (Forest, Va.) has increased its annual production capacity for reinforced thermoplastic composite sheet by 20 million lb (9,072 metric tonnes), or a projected 100 million ft² (9.29 million m²). After completing a year-long installation project on the new production line, AZDEL will start supplying sheet stock to recreational vehicle manufacturers in June. AZDEL says the demand for its family of lightweight composite products for transportation markets has driven the need for this fourth manufacturing line. AZDEL manufactures high-performance thermoplastic composites designed for both interior and exterior applications in automotive, heavy-truck, recreational-vehicle and other transportation applications as well as for industrial uses. Hanwha L&C Corp. (Seoul, South Korea) acquired AZDEL from SABIC Innovative Plastics and PPG Industries in November of 2007.
