A Dutch university team won the annual Panasonic World Solar Challenge in late October when its sleek composites-intensive solar-powered electric racer crossed the finished line first in Adelaide, Australia. The car, dubbed Nuna4, a white, streamlined single-seat car topped by an array of solar panels that convert the sun’s rays into electricity for the car’s electric motor, led the 3,000-km/1,864-mile race from its start in Darwin. This is the fourth time the Dutch team, sponsored by Nuon Corp. (Amsterdam, The Netherlands), has won the solar challenge.
