Airborne (The Hague, The Netherlands) and Fokker (Hoogeveen, The Netherlands) have signed a contract extension for the continued manufacturing of composite overhang panels.

In a news release, Airborne stated that for years it has focused on making composites affordable.

Airborne’s successful endeavors to continuously improve its way of working enabled them to introduce cost cutting initiatives, the company stated. To accelerate this, Airborne is intensifying its efforts to materialize its composite automation proposition and to make separate units ready for market in the near future. In order to allow composites to break through into a broader range of applications, Airborne is convinced automation for affordability is necessary.
