Agenda set for CompositesWorld's 2011 Investment Forum

CompositesWorld's fourth Investment Forum, co-located with SAMPE Tech 2011, is for people interested in learning more about the business of the composites business.

CompositesWorld, publisher of High-Performance Composites and Composites Technology magazines, reported on Sept. 19 that the agenda is set for its fourth Investment Forum, Investing in and Growing Advanced Materials Businesses – from Start-up through Maturity. This year’s event is co-located in Fort Worth, Texas, with SAMPE Tech 2011. The Investment Forum will be held at the Embassy Suites Hotel. The co-chairs for this year’s conference are Michael S. Del Pero, vice president at FocalPoint Partners LLC, and Steve Speak, president of Steve Speak Coaching and Consulting.

“Unlike most conferences in our industry, this is not a technical conference. It is a business-focused conference for people interested in learning more about the business of the composites business,” said Speak, formerly the president of Cytec Engineered Materials. “During my time at Cytec,” continued Speak, "I was usually 'too busy' to participate in these types of events, but with the clarity of hindsight, I see that as a significant missed opportunity. Today, I can clearly see the value for industry leaders to be present and actively participate. There are so many entrepreneurs and growing companies out there that would really benefit from the knowledge some of the industry veterans giving presentations at this year’s conference have. Without this type of assistance, I think our industry is going to struggle to achieve the market penetration that we all see as possible.”

More than 100 executives from leading composites industry suppliers, industry analysts, investment bankers and industry end users. After an overview of the growth metrics and market projections for the general composites industry, specific areas of the market poised for growth will be discussed. Participants will then explore the various stages of a company’s corporate lifecycle and learn growth/investment strategies for executives and managers to consider as tools in order to grow their business – whatever position that company may currently occupy in the lifecycle.

Kicking off the conference will be Sanjay Mazumdar, CEO of Lucintel, who will give an industry overview entitled, "Strategic Growth Opportunities in the Advanced Composites Industry." Speak will address, "The Effect of Technology and Composite Market Acceptance on the Advanced Materials Value Chain and Industry Structure."

Following this session will be one-and-half days of presentations addressing growth and investment strategies for the composites industry. To register or see the agenda, visit
