CompositesWorld, publisher of
High-Performance Composites and
Composites Technology magazines, has announced a speaker replacement for its Carbon Fiber 2008 Conference, which will be held Dec. 8-10, 2008, at the Charleston Marriott Hotel in Charleston, S.C.
Adrian Williams of AWA Ltd. will present "Outlook for Carbon Fiber in Wind Energy." This presentation will address how wind energy has developed over the last 20 years, the current state-of-the-art, future developments, and the role of carbon fiber now and its evolution as part of the future development of wind energy.
Prior to establishing AWA Ltd. to offer strategic business development consultancy in the advanced composites and wind energy sectors, Williams led the development of the wind energy business for SP Systems/Gurit for 15 years. He grew the business from embryonic stage to make it the leading global supplier of materials and technology for wind energy applications, with annual revenues of $170 million. Williams will replace Walter Thompson of Alternegy, originally scheduled to speak at 9:00 am on Dec. 10.
This international conference is designed for executives from leading fiber suppliers, end users, fiber converters, prepreggers, and composites parts manufacturers to discuss the current supply and demand situation for carbon fiber as well as the future prospect for growth of new carbon fiber composite applications.
In addition, there will be two pre-conference seminars on Dec. 8. In the morning, "The Outlook for Composites in Commercial Aircraft Structures and Interiors," will be presented by Chris Red, editor and VP of Market Research for Composite Market Reports. The afternoon session will be, "When and Where Will Carbon Fiber Be Used?" presented by Tony Roberts, principal, AJR Consultant LLC and Chris Levan, manager of Technical Services, Carbon Fiber Solutions.
