ACP Composites installs second CNC router

ACP Composites Inc. (Livermore, Calif., USA) reports that it has expanded its machining capabilities with the addition of a second CNC router to deliver precise, accurately machined components for the medical, aerospace and defense industries.

ACP selected C.R. Onsrud to supply the router, which features a moving gantry design with rack style automatic tool changer. Tool paths are controlled via computer numerical control (CNC) and can produce one-off components just as effectively as repeated identical production.

With the addition of the new 4-axis, 5-ft by 12-ft (1.5m by 3.7m) CNC router to ACP’s current 3-axis, 5-ft by 10-ft (1.5m by 3m) CNC router, ACP’s finishing capacities now allow for increased workloads and shorter lead times. Justin Sparr, executive vice president, says, “We are excited to bring on an additional CNC router. The new addition allows us to bring on new business while maintaining our current work load. The ability to run multiple jobs concurrently opens the door to larger productions as well as quick turnarounds for smaller projects.”
