Epoxy syntactic casting resin

By Staff | November 2004

Magnolia Plastics Inc. (Chamblee, Ga., U.S.A.) offers Magnolia 77-3 A/B, a new, bromide-free, two-part epoxy syntactic casting resin designed to meet or exceed the requirements of Bombardier Aerospace Specification BAMS 532-002, Type III and de Havilland Specification DHMS P1.30, Grade 1. The syntactic casting resin was developed as a substitute for Magnolia 77 A/B, which was in use prior to the European Union ban on products that contain pentabromodiphenyl ether (pentaBDE). The pentaBDE-free replacement formulation maintains the fire retarding qualities of the previous product. It has a specific gravity of about 0.5, is easy to mix and apply, and has a long working life with a flexible cure schedule, says the company.
