Value of Composite Engineering Software in Manufacturing

May 11, 2016 |

Composite engineering software encompasses both computer aided engineering (CAE) and computer aided design (CAD) solutions. In this webinar, we will discuss the value of both to manufacturing.

CAE software provides a way to define material, thicknesses and orientations required to achieve the structural performance and optimize mass. However, this is done based on an idealized and often overdesigned part due to the unknowns of manufacturing which can only be overcome with greater awareness of the as-manufactured part.
Composite CAD software provides an environment for detailed design, design for manufacturing (DFM) and generation of manufacturing data. Solutions accomplish DFM and generation of manufacturing data by defining and simulating the manufacturing process in the context of the geometry and material form. In this manner, composite CAD software is able to eliminate the manufacturing ambiguity in CAE and reduce overdesign, deliver consumable digital data to the shop floor, and ensure greater composite part production consistency.
