Two-part elastomeric adhesive

Master Bond Inc. (Hackensack, N.J.) has developed EP30D-12, a two-component elastomeric adhesive that reportedly features high levels of strength, toughness and chemical resistance. According to the company, the product combines the adhesive strength and chemical resistance characteristics of an epoxy with the toughness, abrasion resistance and flexibility of a polyurethane. Additional properties include low moisture permeability/absorption and high hydrolytic stability. The adhesive has a tensile strength of 7,500 psi/51.71 MPa and 440 percent elongation at break. It cures with minimal shrinkage in five to six hours at ambient temperature. Adhesion is said to be possible at temperatures ranging from -60°F to more than 250°F (-51°C to >120°C).
