High-wear decorative substrates

By Staff | February 2008

Fibre Glast Developments Corp. (Brookville, Ohio) has introduced Chromaveil, a decorative substrate film that reportedly conforms to tight radii and corners without requiring relief cuts or resulting in air bubbles. Decorative styles include wood grains, camouflage, tile, granite, stone and other images. The film is reportedly durable and minimizes glass pattern print-through when used as a surface layer on FRP bathtubs, doors, pools and similar products. Further, the film can be combined with the manufacturer’s #448 6-lb Poly Foam Core to form three-dimensional shapes that achieve a heavy feel to emulate both the look and heft of wood, granite or tile for upscale markets and applications.
