Filament winding material

PlastiComp LLC (Winona, Minn.) has developed a new product for use in direct inline filament winding (DFW) of fiber-reinforced thermoplastic compounds. The companys new pultrusion process has helped it produce DFW materials that reportedly offer improved benefits at lower cost compared to competitive products. PlastiComp says the technology allows the customer to customize their filament-wound product by changing color, fiber content, polymer or fiber used in the process. Products that might benefit from this technology, says the manufacturer, include baseball bats, pipes and tanks.
